#17. 5 Surprising Benefits of Time Management
Most people think that the benefit of productivity coaching is that it allows you to get more done in less time. While that may be one of the byproducts of productivity coaching, I don't believe that it's the most important result. Today I am sharing five unexpected benefits of better time management skills.
Improved Physical Health: Better time management skills can lead to improvements in physical health, including exercise, nutrition, diet, and sleep. Clients learn to allocate time for self-care, such as meal planning and workouts, within their busy schedules.
Discovery of New Interests and Hobbies: As I help my clients work on their time management, I've noticed that they often rekindle their passion for hobbies and interests they thought they didn't have time for. It's incredible how creating structure in one's schedule can open up opportunities for pursuing new activities. I've seen personal growth and satisfaction emerge as a result.
Teaching Children Time Management: Teaching children effective time management is important. I've realized that leading by example is the most effective way to instill this valuable skill. Children tend to emulate what they see, and when they observe me managing my time well, it encourages them to do the same. This may seem trivial, but I truly believe it is one of the first steps to breaking the cycle of “hustle culture.”
Increased Emotional Regulation: Poor time management can lead to emotional dysregulation. When your schedule is chaotic, it’s easier to lash out in frustration and overwhelm. Effective time management can reduce emotional stress and improve your ability to stay calm and focused.
Improved Relationships: Better time management allows individuals to be more present and engaged in their relationships. This applies to both personal and professional relationships, including interactions with clients. When you’re not preoccupied with work-related stress, you can truly engage in meaningful interactions. Being more present in your professional life can also positively influence your interactions with clients, fostering a sense of trust and commitment.
